Day 1
Well it’s finally started! I’m currently in Inverness. Yesterday was a right faff, got the train to London and found my first bit of bike damage, torn bar padding, not a biggie but annoying all the same. The cycle from paddington to euston was frightening to say the least but I made it in one piece. Then I had to chase up my train ticket and get that printed…. So an hour of panic later and I was helped out by a lovely lady in Wallace events organisation. Finally got back and on to the train. Met a lovely couple who were doing the end to end as well. The birth itself was surprisingly good, not to mention the cheap-bar £2 for a pint unheard of! So all in all I can highly recommend the calidonian express, plus the staff were great too. Next leg Inverness to Thurso by train then cycle 20 miles to John o’groats and the campsite.
