Day 10: Belfast to Dundalk

Well I knew today would be long but I didn’t realise it would be quite so long. The day started with sunshine! I followed the cycle route out of Belfast to Lisburn which was a great cycle route along the river all off road and nice cycling. Got stopped by the police who were talking to cyclists about the route and ended up getting some more sponship, so thank you to the Belfast police dept. At the ended of the cycle path I managed to get a bit lost. Ireland can’t be famed for it’s sign posting. After a little bit of confusion I managed to head towards hillsborough and got some food to get me back in the game. I hit the a1 south and flew! The dual carrageway had a massive hard shoulder that I could blast down the county. I finally made it over the border into southern island and into Dundalk, then came the small matter of finding somewhere to stay for the night. A campsite, 2 b&bs, and 15miles later and I found a lovely little place just out of carlingford. It was a beautiful place, well run place and I can highly recommend highlands b&b a mile from carlingford to anyone. I got dropped into carlingford a quiet looking village which was heavily geared towards tourism, it was reminiscent of a Cornish fishing village. Apart from every restaurant was heaving and full of hens and stag does. It took 4 attempts to get into to a restaurant but I had a lovely fish pie, before getting lost in the dark trying to get to the b&b.
